About
Design has always been a natural calling for me, inspiring me to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from Rochester Institute of Technology. During my college years, I met the love of my life, and shortly after graduation, we married and began building a life together.
Early in my career, I gained invaluable experience with two respected interior design firms in Rochester, New York. As our family grew, I embraced the beautiful challenge of motherhood and am now a proud mom to three wonderful children.
In the spring of 2017, with all our kids attending school full-time, I officially launched Kathleen Taylor Interior Design (KTID), based in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. I specialize in residential interior design and home staging, helping clients create spaces that are not only visually appealing but also comfortable and meaningful.
Our journey—from relocating from upstate New York to Raleigh and finally to the coast, to traveling to inspiring destinations like Aruba, Hawaii, London, and Costa Rica—alongside raising my children, has deepened my passion for thoughtful, intentional design that resonates with life’s rhythms and enhances everyday living.

From arranging furniture for better flow, to styling shelves and placing accessories, to finding the perfect wall (and the right height) to hang your artwork, every detail is considered. The scale and proportion of each item play a big role in how cohesive and visually appealing your space feels.

Perfect for more extensive projects such as new construction or home remodels, this consultation goes beyond surface-level design. We start by defining the scope of your project and your desired style, then guide you through selecting and specifying materials and products that suit your lifestyle — whether that includes kids, pets, or the wear-and-tear of beachside living (hello, sand and salt!). We also assist with coordinating installation using trusted, reliable vendors to ensure a smooth process from start to finish.
staging
Moving soon? My staging consultations are designed to highlight your home’s best features using what you already own—keeping costs down while maximizing appeal. The goal? A quick sale at top dollar.
We’ll start outside with curb appeal, then walk room by room through your home, creating a detailed task list tailored to your space. If your home is a bit dated, I’ll recommend easy, high-impact updates—from paint colors to lighting upgrades—to help modernize and freshen the look.
While many realtors include a basic staging consultation in their package, this flat-fee service—based on your home’s square footage—goes a step further. It’s a small investment that can translate into thousands of extra dollars in your final sale price.
